American Experts Urge US administration to Change Policy of Economic Sanctions
    منقول من فيسبوك.

    ,Dear Mr. Brandow

I read your article “Sanctions Without Purpose: U.S. Penalizes Sudanese People to Punish Their Government” in the World Post, 09/02/2015. I could not really understand your favorable views of the Sudanese government and your call to lift the US-imposed sanction against it. The reasons you have cited are ill-informed and baseless, and further serve to support the GOS (Government of the Sudan) stance, which is known for its aggressive PR campaigns regarding this issue
Sudan is not different from Iran, North Korea, and Syria. There are numerous and well-documented reports regarding the atrocious crimes committed by the GOS during its 27-year rule, and continue to take place, against its own people. One vivid example in recent memory, is the brutal crushing of peaceful demonstrators in late September, 2013 in Khartoum and other Sudanese cities, when security forces shot and killed 85 citizens according to official government accounts, and over 200, according to various independent reports. Of course, not to mention the continued bombardment by SAF (Sudan Air Force) Antononove planes using crude barrel bombs in the Nuba Mountains region and Blue Nile State. The infamous Antonov (An-24 and An-26) cargo planes/crude retrofitted bombers

From a historical perspective, the current regime, whose members belong the International Organization of The Muslim Brotherhood came to power through a coup d’état in 1989 overthrowing the then-democratic government led by prime minister Sadiq al-Mahdi
It’s my humble opinion, as well as the opinion of many US policy makers and several human rights groups, to further tighten sanctions against this regime rather lifting them. Sanctions have proven to be effective in the recent case of Iran, a much stronger regime
Lifting the sanctions imposed by the US, would only benefit members of the Sudanese regime, who have a tight grip on all aspects of life in the country, and would further strengthen its position to continue its war crimes against its people. Finally, one needs to remind the readers that president Bashir and several members of his government/party have outstanding arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Darfur: https://www.icc-cpi.int/darfur/albashir?ln=en
